it was amazing
bookshelves: still-awesome-after-all-these-years

It's an obvious choice, but so what? It's obvious for a reason. Because it is AWESOME. Austen is super-mannered, and is clearly writing within tight literary constraints, but the characters and satire she develops within those constraints are truly remarkable. What bookish female reader can resist the charms of Elizabeth Bennett? She's totally girl-crush-worthy. I'm not a fan of everything Austen wrote...I really didn't care for Mansfield Park, and I found Sense and Sensibility pretty weak in its conclusion. But Pride and Prejudice is a masterpiece of satire, a funny and compelling love story that never softens into sap. LOVE IT.
