For me, this book started off very powerfully. For the first 70 pages or so I couldn't put it down. But then it just became a little too bizarre for my taste and the middle section dragged for me. I did think that it ended powerfully. It was easy to feel devotion, respect, and sympathy for the character of Ender. I can see why this book has a huge following and many devoted fans. I have just decided that, as a general rule, the science fiction genre is not my favorite. I don't particulary enjoy reading about aliens and civilizations on other planets. Also, the dynamics of Ender's family really bothered me throughout the book. I enjoyed the portions of the book most that focused on Ender's humanity and relationships.
