This story about a teenage girl opening a vampire-themed restaurant in Texas with her uncle is problematic in a few ways, but its enjoyment factor often outweighs these problems. Nothing really materializes in the main character's relationship with a werewolf; creatures are introduced without any foreshadowing or rules that their fantasy world follows; and the central mystery about the main vampire chef was too easily figured out to be suspenseful (at least to me). Still, Smith kept the pace moving, the details about the restaurant were delightful, and master chef Bradley's seduction is fun to watch even if simple. Not as strong as her Native American stories, this was still an entertaining read.
