Eva Nine has always lived in an underground bunker where she has been raised by the robot Muthr. Through well-developed technology, she has trained to survive in the world that lies above her, but she has never seen it. She is sure, however, that as a 12-year-old girl, she is more than ready to explore the "real world" of planet earth. Unfortunately, she is propelled into that world unexpectedly when a monstrous hunter breaks in. Muthr manages to get Eva Nine out safely, but she is alone in a world that is very different from her training experiences and Eva Nine is the prey.

DeTerlizzi has created a cast of bizarre creatures that live in an unfamiliar environment--Star Wars fans will be in familiar territory. His illustrations help the reader sense the helplessness of one small human girl living amongst strangeness. The book is full of action and adventure which should make it just as popular among boys as girls even though the main character is female.

The book is the first of a trilogy proposed by DiTerlizzi and I'm ready for the second book.

Makayla I was just wondering if you had any idea when the second book could be expected out?

Charlyn Trussell I could find no announcement from the publisher about a release date for a sequel--and I searched. Most writers seem bound to the one-a-year rule which means a long wait time for book two.
