** spoiler alert ** This is the 3rd book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. As each book progresses more and more things happen. Each book is an easy read and light entertainment. It's certainly not a literary component with lots of originality but nonetheless it's very entertaining.

In this book Bill is kidnapped by the Vampire King of Mississippi as word gets out that Bill has been paid by the Queen of Louisiana to compile a "directory" of all vampires that exists worldwide.

Sookie must now find Bill, but in her journey she finds out that Bill had originally left to be with his maker and ex-lover, Lorena. Sookie is now faced with a moral dilemma, should she save the man that was unfaithful to her?

This book is a story of Sookie's journey in trying to find Bill and then eventually to his rescue. We are introduced to a new character, Alcide, a Were. Alcide's family is well-known amongst the supernatural. Alcide's family is in financial debt to the Vamps and so Eric called on him this favour to accompany Sookie to Jackson, part of the Mississippi vamps area as she tries to snoop for information on Bills whereabouts.

Unfortunately for Sookie & Alcide, other obstructions get in their way to what seemed like a simple plan. They are faced with a vindictive ex and a dead Were gang member. This is a typical Sookie Stackhouse book with all the right amounts of twists and turns, funny characters and ofcourse enough action, fear, mystery and horror to keep you turning the pages. It's a light, fast-paced and entertaining book.
