This was a fast read and I couldn't put it down but I definitely should have waited to read this book when I wasn't feeling down. It started out seeming like it would be a "feel good" tale of a couple with a young child going through the growing pains of a two-income (well, 1 1/2 income) family with a child entering school. Beth's comments in each chapter provide an idea of what will be coming but there were actually enough surprises throughout that I couldn't imagine how strong she needed to be to survive all the turmoil she endured from the grave illnesses of both her daughter and then her soon-to-be ex-husband. It was all heartbreaking. When Matthew enters her life, he does seem like an angel but remains a mystery. He seems too good to be true which led me to think "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is..." I was happy to see that Beth and Charlotte, her daughter, ultimately achieve the happiness they deserve.
