This book is the definition of privilege. Don't get me wrong, I am all for everyone doing their part to conserve and not pollute the environment, and I am not going to tell Miss Kingsolver how to live her life, but not all of us can uproot our families and start farming.

I grew up on a farm, with goats and horse and chickens and a garden. It takes a lot of manual work, time, and money. Not everyone is financially and physically able to do it. And sometimes your crops just don't turn out. Your animals need regular vet visits, and having to kill your own animals is not fun.

Thank God for farmers and grocery stores, that's all I am saying.

Look, we all have to choose which necessary evils we live with, and those we fight. Do what you can, and don't be a dick to people who choose to do differently.
