You have to be a pretty sophisticated reader to enjoy this book. And, by the way, if you're really squeamish about disgusting parasites and the diseases they cause you might even want to skip it altogether since it delves into the subject in quite some detail. You may never see the world in the same light again....

Now that I have your attention, here's a brief summary of the book:

"Peeps"takes place in New York City in the future, when parasites that turn humans into vampires are rampant and out of control. Cal, a boy who is infected by this vampire parasite is only a carrier but he has inadvertently infected quite a few girlfriends who have turned into "Peeps" (short for "parasite-positives") and are now major carnivores. It is now Calís job to hunt them down so that they canít spread the disease any further. In his quest to find them, Cal discovers an entire underworld of alpha rats, cats with reflective red eyes, and something even more sinister and bigger than anything he has ever encountered. The juicy bits about other disgusting parasites and the diseases they cause are intertwined in the novel in alternating chapters so, don't worry, you won't miss them!
