it was amazing
bookshelves: mainstream-historical, japan, 2010
Read from December 10, 2010 to March 27, 2011

It took a rather long time for me to be well and truly invested in the reading of this book, I cannot really surmise the reasons for this delay but I am very happy I persisted in the effort.
David Mitchel is truly a master, and to praise a master wordsmith such as him requires a show of skill I am incapable of.
A masterful book, with an even more worthy closing act, one I shall remember for a long time, written by a true master of modern english literature.
I am indebted to Liviu Suciu of FantasyBookCritic for his review which introduced me to this jewel of writing. I am already looking forwards to Mr Mitchell's Cloud Atlas which according to popular opinion is even better than the dazzling Thousand Autumns!
