Darci named this book historical fiction and I choose to believe her. I don't ordinarily read this genre (or romance EVER) because most of it is...not good. This book is good. Better than good. Like a gemstone, Hannah's novel is harvested carefully, brilliantly faceted, flawless, beautifully polished and the storyline is AAA quality. The characters are deeply chiseled out of the bedrock of the Scottish Highlands. Darci handles the dialect with aplomb and leavens just the right touch of the deeper brogues of the working classes: she's done yeoman's research and it shows. Well done, Darci!
