Summary: (possible spoilers)
Allow your mind to take you to this different world. This world where girls only live until they are 20 and guys only until they are 25. This world where daughters and sisters are taken from their homes, are taken on the street and never seen again. Rhine's world is her and her brother Rowan. They look out for one another. They keep each other safe, until one day when Rhine volunteer's to be a test subject. She knows it is a trap the moment she steps in, yet she can do nothing about it. She, along with many other girls are put in a dark van and are driven for what feels like an eternity. Rhine is one of the "lucky" ones chosen to be put inside a limo and carted off to God knows where. As they drive away, she hears a gunshot and knows all the other girls just met their maker.
Rhine along with Jenna and Cecily are taken to become wives of Linden. They will be "sister wives", like it or not. They each have a role to play all scripted out by Linden's evil Father, Vaughn. Vaughn is a highly respected doctor who is known to be researching to find a cure for the dying out society. Rhine is determined to not let herself believe into this world of frivolity, not to let herself forget who she really is. She is determined to escape? But, can anyone ever truely escape?
I was sucked into this world from page 1. I could not put this book down. I highly suggest if you are in a reading rut, to pick this one up. Yes, it's dystopian... but it still reads like we are in our world, just maybe in the future???? I would have liked a little more information on the Elder generation.
Gah. That ending. It seems all peaches and cream, but I see that pesky little #1 up there, letting me know there is another book to this and the front cover for being oh so kind and letting me know this is a trilogy. I am very curious as to where the next books will take us. Will Linden be included? Or is that whole world gone now? How will Rhine and Gabriel survive in this messed up world? Will Rhine find her brother?
As you can see, I am ready for book #2 now.
Read this one YA fans.
