I really thought this was the best of the bunch so far...although I'd have enjoyed another "ch. 32" in this book :)

I only gave it 4 stars for one big reason-all throughout the book, whenever it would come time to choose sides, the other vampires would say something like "Is all-out war really worth a woman's hurt pride?"
I took it to mean, that since Max never raped Cat's mom, he was just an all-around asshat, that no one took his threat seriously. So when he sliced and diced her and ripped Cat's throat out after some intense torture (btw, can we get a bit more happy happy since we had to read all about that torture?) people saw that he had broken away from Ian and had some benefactors funding Cat's torture and death.
I didn't see this as a case of a woman scorned as far as Cat was concerned. Maybe Patra, yeah, for sure. But not Cat. I mean every other page someone was trying to kill her! Or torturing her, or killing her friends...I'd say that deserves a war.
I think that Tate had a great role, and as much as I hate seeing him come between Cat and Bones, he does a good job of doing it, but without making me hate him.
Mencherez...wow. I think today a few friends and I decided he looks like Oded Fehr. And I was glad he couldn't kill Patra...not out of sympathy for her, no not at all! But for his own sake...especially since I know his book is coming up in the Night Huntress series. And poor Denise...is she the Denise who ends up with my love Spade?
Ian surprised me, in a good way. Way to step up to the plate, Ian.
Cat rocked. Since I wasn't her biggest fan before, I'm glad she did.
Cat's mom Justina? woah. I will soo not spoil what she does, but...lmao!!!!
And Bones, wow...I have no words as I am picturing him naked right now...

@ Suzanne: lol!!!@Angela: nothing quite as good as ch. 32, but there's a part where Cat and Tate have to pretend to be making out...their lives depend on it, and afterwards..Bones makes sure Cat knows she is his...oooh ::shiver:: he gets all male and territorial and yummy, and ::sigh::
that was my favorite part...maybe a little less than halfway through.
Laura,I think the "all about a woman's pride" while directed towards Cat was more talking about Patra. They were in a war because of her pride. Don't know if that's why Jeaniene repeated it so often or not. It also could have been because of events in book 4. You'll see - it's the hardest of the series for me to read.
I told myself I wouldn't read it yet. Yeah I'm like 50 pages in already! LolAnd I'm already seeing the split between Bones and Cat :(
Makes me very sad
Well these books are like a nice box of chocolate - you can't stop till you've eaten/read all of them. And even then you are doing an Oliver Twist impersonation "Please, Jeaniene, may I have some more?"

btw, I took it as since Cat's father wasn't a rapist, that her beef with him wasn't worth an all out war, just for Cat to get revenge on an incident that never happened.
But my reasoning about the war being worth it, was that every time she turned around someone was trying to kill her! that's good enough reason for me to go to war...it was because people were trying to kill her that she wanted to fight...after all, by that point they had Max, and had tortured him.
Ian said something along those lines to Bones and menchares after they'd killed the zombies, and Cat and Bones reacted like it was directed at Cat.
Your version makes just as much (if not more!) sense, though. so I might go with your version from now on :) A woman scorned and all that!

Okay, I promise not to reply - but would SOMEONE explain the fascination 90% of readers have with Tate to me?I HATE HIM! Why?
1. He's rude to Bones.
2. He hid in the trees at her house to SPY on her

lol, no worries, I'm not Team Tate or anything :)he may not make my skin crawl (lol) but he did have his moments of severely pissing me off! I lvoed when Cat stabbed him after Bones was reported dead.
I don't hate Tate, but like Laurie I am also not Team Tate either. I want him to get his own book and HEA (who IS NOT Annette!) so he will leave Cat alone.I think I just feel sorry for him aswell, I mean he can be a total prick, but he does create some good tension.

I see Tate different than other triangles as there is no pull on Cat's side -- most good love triangles have the women interested in two other people. Not here.
I don't hate Tate though, I feel bad for him and hope he matures enough to get over himself and realize it isn't just his feelings that create a relationship. But I am glad he is in the book. Frost creates some good characters!
I am glad that there is no interest from Cat, I think I would have hated that if she had tried to turn it into a love triangle. I mean what person in their right mind would pick Tate over Bones!?She does, I really like Vlad and Ian at the moment, this sounds harsh, but I used to like Spade alot until his book came out : S
I loved his book... BUT I've never been over the moon about Spade and his actions were totally in keeping with his past.
I did lik Spade's book, I think I was just expecting more from JF, they just didn't have the chemistry like Cat and Bones do.
Suzanne - they have a different type of chemistry. It's not the volitile one that Cat and Bones have - but that wouldn't fit either Spade or Denise, really.
That's true I mean I didn't expect them to have the same kind of relationship, but with Cat and Bones, you can feel the pull they have to eachother, with Denise and Spade I wasn't really feeling that. You will have to read them once you have finished with the Night Huntress Laurie, they are good, despite what I just said, they just aren't as good.

I have to disagree about Tate though. That man is driving me mad. I just want to throw a pretty lass at him and tell him to get lost. :-D I mean, I want him to be happy, but also to just get over Cat already. He'll probably get a book in the Night Huntress World series one of these days though. That'll be good.
LMAO Sarah! I think that is probably true for all of us!I hope he gets a book in NHW as well, it would stop him harresing Cat and let us see him have a HEA. Does anyone know who will be next in NHW?

Laura - the only way is to join the forum and then follow the direction to request membership to the cave. But for those that love the books - every Sunday at 8 eastern is Book Club where 3 chapters are discussed. WARNING if you come to book club it goes FAST!
