One word can easily sum up my overall feelings for this book: wow. The Bonehunters grabbed me by the tonsils and whipped me around from the first to the very last page. Erikson’s world, which in the first books is almost incomprehensible in its span, is slowly beginning to converge. All the concepts, ideas, story lines, layers—all aspects of the story begin to meld together in this sixth book, and reading it was truly cathartic.

This volume of the Malazan Book of the Fallen brings together so many of my favorite characters: Karsa Orlong, Icarium, Kalam, Quick Ben, Fiddler, Paran, Cutter, Apsalar, Onrak, Trull . . . the list could go on and on. Each character with his/her own story, and slowly the stories are blending, crossing paths, influencing each other, creating new and interesting plots.

Erikson is also refining his talent and is, in my opinion, one of if not THE best fantasy author today.

I’m excited to continue reading the series.
