I enjoy Ann Tylers' books -- and in this one, she writes about many of the same kinds of things which come up in her other books -- quirky characters, disfunctional familes and relationships and some change.
She writes about a 30 year old -- a failure in his wealthy family's eyes -- but not in the eyes of others, particlularly the elderly whom he works with. He gradually assesses his situation and does some real growing up - in ways meaningful to him
