I read about a quarter of the book, but it is basically referencing ideas of an Earth Mother, Goddess, Virgin Mother rubbish that made it impossible for me to swallow any of the rest of what I gather is a love story.
I remember enjoying The Alchemist by the same author, read years ago, but this novel with it's ideas of the feminine face of God and its shmatltzy Hallmark sayings of love and discovery were cheap. What annoyed me, and should have clued me in, was the authors note at the start of the book where he really preached his ideas.
This is not so much a novel as the author's manifesto I felt, and I don't enjoy being told what to think or how to think by any author. It is written mostly in the first person, who is cynical, but then legends and myths told by other characters weigh in to apparently set her straight.
It's heavy handed, and awkward, aside from its incorrect information presented as fact. Disappointing from this author.
