it was amazing

Most of these other reviews have got it all wrong. The book is not about Jay Gatz, it is about Nick Carraway the narrator of the book. In the end he leaves the city of ashes and returns back to the mid west where he has a comfortable distance from the modern age and it ideals. Compare this to his next book, "Tender is the Night" where Dick Divers buys into the modern world and is undermined. In Tender in the NIght unlike Nick Carraway who leaves the city of ashes behind, Dick embraces the modern and is destroyed.
