* 3,5 stars * - I think this is the McCloud book I like best - so far. Besides the obvious reason of pure sexy escapism, why did I like it better? Firstly the author finally steps away (just a bit) from her predictable formulaic scenario. Secondly she succeeds in giving a bit more layers to her alpha male lead (Nick here.) Yeah, sure, Nick’s rather rude and direct, but I honestly feel this is the first time I connect to one of her male characters on a realistic human level (e.g. his vulnerability felt genuine). Finally and thirdly this story was well written and kept me very entertained.
I think that Shannon McKenna is excellent in this genre and since I find myself in the mood to read easy, steamy & entertaining books for the moment, I'm glad I have purchased some more of her work.
