Fascinating presentation of research on how dogs perceive the world, lightened with a few candid observations/drawings of the author's dog, Pumpernickel. The author's take on one experiment: "By standard intelligence tests, the dogs have failed at the puzzle. I believe, by contrast, that they have succeeded magnificently....dogs are terrific at using humans to solve problems...."
