I've long been interested in the Amish, and when this book became available as a free Kindle download the day after a customer at the bookstore bought one, I downloaded and read it. Initially the combativeness between the hero and heroine was clumsily overdone, but as they became more dimensional, it ceased to be a problem. Another issue was the heroine's reluctance to reveal her nursing degree to her family; it advanced the plot at the expense of realism. I otherwise enjoyed the book as a slice of life study and took comfort in the ideals of grace it presented.
