It's not dog in the night time. It's a lot bleaker. The empathy I felt for George, and the way his panics and delusions resonated with me made this a very hard book for me to read. It has its charms, no doubt; plenty of laughs and some lovely characters. But for anyone who has doubts about their own sanity, this will be hard work.
