Interest level: 6th +
Reading level: easy, short chapters
Genre: fantasy, science fiction, adventure, humor, genetic engineering, medical experiments
Series: Maximum Ride

"The Angel Experiment", first in the Maximum Ride Series" is about a group of children who escape from a horrible 'school' where humans are caged and experimented on. As a result of genetic engineering, these particular children have wings and can, therefore, fly. They get involved in one adventure after another as they try to rescue the youngest girl, Angel (who is kidnapped and returned to the school for further horrid experiments) and fight off the obnoxious Erasers, evil mutants who are out to get them all.

Even though it seems like a long book, the chapters are short and it's very easy to read. The book is also fast-paced, so make sure you have a weekend lined up because you will want to finish it in one go!

"Maximum Ride" is part fantasy, part science fiction, and part adventure. It also contains lots of wry humor so many of you are bound to enjoy the series.

The second book is called "School's Out - Forever" - it's is as exciting as the first book.
