This graohic novel is an account of the author's (Art Spiegelman) father's experience as a Jewish person living during World War 2. This book is very moving. There are many times throughout this book when I actually began to cry. Word of warning- The Scholastic Book Wizard on scholastic.com has this book set at a reading level of 6.8. THIS BOOK IS NOT ON THE EMOTIONAL LEVEL OF A 6TH GRADE STUDENT! It is probably not even on the emotional level of an 8th or a 9th grade student. While it is a great graphic novel, some of the content is too heavy for younger readers.
