As I continue to read through the Foundation series the stories and the writing tends to get better and better. Take for instance in Foundation and Empire, Asimov left us with a cliffhanger sort of ending that left for suspense and great pick up point for a story. Generally in my opinion the story telling has improved throughout the novels and the characters become more appealing to me. Even through the characters are only part of this wonderful work of science fiction. The science fiction aspect of it is great and drives the story, but it more then that it the concept and ideas of the story. The story itself is at times exciting and really interesting.

Second Foundation opens up five years from where Foundation and Empire ended. The Mule has his empire and in vainly searching for the location of the last thing that can stop him in the galaxy, the Second Foundation. Throughout this part of the story we see more of the inter workings of the Mule and the Second Foundation. All the secrecy and intrigue. To me the intrigue of the plot and plot devices really which causes this book to be such a page turner all the suspense and wanting to know what will happen.

In the second part/story of the Foundation takes place fifty years after the events of the first part of Second Foundation. Here we see a conspiracy and mistrust the Foundation has for the Second Foundation. We are given vague clues that this is a danger to the Seldon Plan. The story unfolds with excitement and twists and turns. The ending of the part of the story and the book is full of page turning events to learn what the characters believe and the truth of the book. It not till near the very last few pages do the read learn the explanation and supposed location of the Second Foundation.

Another great work by Isaac Asimov. This series has quickly became my favorite science fiction series, but has also became one of my favorite series of books. The ideas, concepts, intrigue, and the way everything is thrown out causes the creation of such a wonderful story. Asimov was one creative and intelligent man. With this book finish I have finish reading the original Foundation Series. Now I will turn my attention to other books, but shall return later to read Asimov other great work in the extend Foundation series and Robot series. I look forward to reading them. I recommend this book to science fiction fans and even to some that are unsure about science fiction. This book has caused me to become a fan of the genre. I say start at the beginning or at the very least what I did with the beginning of the original Foundation series...
