Dream Chaser by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Almost didn't read this one in my Marathon To Get To Acheron, because after the first Dream-Hunter book it felt pointless. I get it, they're dry, unemotional, super hot dudes who invade your dreams. But then I read that it was important to read before Acheron because of the introduction of a new character and then I saw it was about Xypher who I totally joined the Fan Club for in Kat's book, so I pulled my hand back from Ash's book (So close, and yet...) and waited for this bad boy to come in and now that i'm done, I can say i'm glad I read it. Like a lot of the time, I enjoyed the beginning the most. I liked the way Xypher (a nightmare dream god) which takes him way higher on the badass scale of dream hunters compared to who we've met (except for maybe D'Alerian who I want to know better). So Xypher, the angry, bitter snark meets Simone, a feisty, curly-haired pixie who happens to be a medical examiner and besties with Tate (the squire who we met in Kyrian's book) and a teenage ghost stuck in 1985.

All of this comes together to tell a sweet, sometimes charming story that continues with the drama unleashed in Kat's book with the Sumerian demons, Gallus, and the renegade Dimme. Not to be outdone, the Atlantean demons, Charontes, are also on the scene surprisingly enough and with them we've got ourselves another Sanctuary-type hang out and another reason for Ash to show up, which I'm always a fan of. Kat shows up super pregnant and still as confident, which I dig. Liza, the doll-maker, is even more hardcore than I expected. Simone has a little extra going on beneath the surface (don't they always?) that enables the super perfect, super happy ever after that sometimes can suck the badass right out of the room, but we digress. (Don't get me wrong, I love an HEA, but sometimes, I want it not to show up in the last five pages with a big red bow on it.) And Jaden? Hello sugar, I'm glad I read this one. If Kenyon knows anything, it's how to write a mysterious asshole that I want to take to dinner.
