It's clear that the writers and artists admire the Beats, but they're never idolised or romanticised. They were misogynistic, self-absorbed and self-destructive and none of that is denied, but they're not made into villains either. Some of the stories dragged and covered the same ground, but I found this enthralling and easy to read.
