I just got it, and I've skimmed it, but so far it reads like an entire book as good as the first few chapters of Spell of the Sensuous!

Daniel Abdal-Hayy Moore Aha! Dear Brandt: Becoming Animal sounded so tasty that I looked it up and read a few pages(Amazon) and then, mostly due to price, bought Spell of the Sensuous first, with the thought that if it held up to expectations I would then get his second book (my poetry is filled with animals even as I am an urban poet, but feel their spirits are our extensions and often our metaphors, etc.)... but do I glean from your comment that only the first few chapters of Spell of the Sensuous were "good" or that you only read the first few chapters which were all good? But thanks deeply for the book tip (and I love the poem he quotes as an epigraph in Becoming Animal! and have that poet's book on my shelf...)

Brandt I am referring to the common experience of others who have read the Spell of the Sensuous and found the first chapter enchanting and rich, but felt the phenomenology was tough reading. I personally did not have that experience and relished the whole book. Yet this new text appears to have reached a higher level of lyricism that is very appealing. Enjoy!
