Unexpectedly good read. Pretty much the author's personal story of spending time on the Farallones off San Francisco with the shark researchers. She returned several times, the last beng the longest and most eventful.

Great story telling - weaves in histories of the islands, stories of shark attacks as well as a compelling narration of the time she spent there. Not an academic study of the great white, but Casey has the same degree of awe and appreciation for the animal as I am sure we would all feel in her place, and she conveys it with great wit, enthusiasm and excellent prose. Hard to put down.
