Quite a bit of fun. Astride is an adventurer who, we discover, is more than that. The central premise of the book is that humanity hasn't just gone to the stars, we've established wormholes to pocket universes in the solar system. Some of us have moved there. Sometimes, the people there know about what they live in, other times not. Several stock SF tropes are present (hyperintelligent AIs, being backed up so you can be resurrected, etc) and in the end I don't know that the book discovers the answer to profound mysteries but it does posit some good questions and it's a fun read. 3.5 stars rounded to 4 because, well, I wanted to.
