Ok, I’ll be upfront and admit that I wasn’t impressed with this story. I thought it was predictable and the dialog left a lot to be desired. On the positive side, it was a quick -- lite and fluffy read (good for airplanes or the beach). The story starts with a robbery that isn’t a break-in at all. Instead a tremendously wealthy tomb raider, Maxwell Broadbent, has spirited his collection of treasures from his home and away from his sons who are counting on their inheritances. He offers his three sons a challenge from the grave. If they can find where he has hidden his treasures then and only then will they inherit it.

Although Max tells them straight out that they must cooperate to succeed, the three sons all go there separate ways each getting sucked into the hunt in his own way. The search is joined by others seeking an ancient Mayan manuscript that is part of Max’s collection of priceless art. This Codex spans the complete wisdom of Mayan research on medicines made from herbs, barks, insects, and is thought to contain the cure for cancer among other treatments. Consequently, academics want to study it and medical manufacturers are willing to kill for it. The trail leads to Honduras, through swamps and uncharted ground filled with deadly adventure. There are the bad guys and the good guys and lots of action. I wont be surprised to see this as a movie some day along the lines of Indiana Jones flicks.
