4.5 HA! So, apparently I'm NOT the only one. Thank goodness that social networking hadn't hit yet when I was in my teens, or who knows how far I might have gone...
Besides my OBVIOUS instant-rapport with Heidi, I love-love-lurved this book on many other levels, though. Mycroft Christie, Time Traveling Detective is not only a very witty spoof of Dr. Who with shades of Lord Peter and Sherlock Holmes, but his imagined dialogue is immensely amusing. Heidi's friends are a believable, largely recognizable group of flamboyant, self-absorbed teenagers instead of the cookie-cutter stereotypes one so often gets as backup players to imaginative heroines. Readers will find enough swoon to satisfy and enough snap to cut the sugar rush... and the very British setting (she works in a tea shop!) doesn't hurt at all. Love, love, lurve this book.
