This was pretty “eh”. The set-up with the dream gods being cursed by Zeus to be emotionless, but harboring the very dangerous secret that the curse is wearing thin is interesting. I liked some of the minor characters (Persephone and Tory) but I didn’t much care for either the hero or the heroine. Plus their romance felt very contrived to me.

Per usual, Kenyon did have some interesting ideas but I didn’t feel like they were carried though. I liked that the dream-god Arik doesn’t know how to function in reality as a human. Unfortunately he was only sporadically clueless, when it wouldn’t get in the way. I liked the idea that Apollomi adopts Geary as a kind of priestess. I thought more could’ve been done with this, and that would make Geary’s refusal to let her out to destroy the world (and therefore giving up her search for Atlantis, and falsifying her own data so it doesn’t help anyone else) a harder decision. That decision was much too facile.

Sherry Baker I was expecting a lot more... as my mother loved this book... but like you, I was "meh" with it.
