Patricia Briggs is one of my favorite authors, mainly because her penmanship never gets in the way of telling the story. As the story unfolds the prose drifts to the back and fades from the page.
Left is a modern fantasy story of a strong female shifter, brought up as a foster child in the family of the Alpha of the north american werewolves. Having gotten over that childhood she has finally gotten married and is on her honeymoon, but her husband failed to tell her it was a gift from one of the fae...
What I really liked about this book was that the mythology of Mercedes world is fleshed out with, beings from her own native american heritage.
What I didn't like as much, and what lost this book a couple of stars, was that this was far too much like a bad horror flick from the eighties. You know the ones where a gang goes to a cabin by the lake, where a lot of people have mysteriously disappeared and there's a lot of sex and less cerebral activity. Okay, so they were a couple and not a gang, but otherwise...
