** spoiler alert ** This was a good start to a new series by Beverly Lewis. The main character is Rose Ann. She has been close friends with Nick, who was adopted into a neighboring Amish family as a 10yo from a nearby city. He has never really adapted to the Amish way of life bu stays because of Rose. Rose meanwhile is falling for Silas and by the end of the book is engaged to him and Nick has left the community after his brother is killed in an accident riding horses while the two argued. no one knows if Nick caused the accident or not. Rose's sister has also moved back home with her 4yo daughter Mattie Sue as she realizes that her fancy life isn't what she wants for her daughter and her husband doesn't want to live a godly life. Another side story is with the man Rose cleans for and his daughter, Beth, that he has hidden from the community to protect her as she is somewhat slow and he doesn't want to lose her like he did Beth's mom. I'm looking forward to see what all happens in the next book in this series.
