** spoiler alert ** I read this book over the course of a few weeks aloud to my 2nd grade class. They loved it! I think that it is timeless, and my kids loved it. It is a very heartwarming story about the strange friendship that develops between a pig and a spider after the pig is rescued by Fern Arable. The spider, Charlotte, weaves all sorts of adjectives into her web to describe Wilbur in order to save him from being slaughtered. Wilbur becomes famous! When Charlotte grows old, Wilbur has to learn a hard lesson about life. However, Charlotte's children are left to carry on her legacy.
