This book was simultaneously hilarious and disturbing. It contains some fairly graphic (pun intended) violence. However, if you enjoy dark humor, please give this one a try. It is the story of the adventures of the very young and adorable Lenore (named after Edgar Allen Poe) who just happens to be dead. The story isn't continuous, but rather is a series of vignettes highlighting some of her misadventures. The illustrations are gorgeous. Dirge weaves in elements of folktales and children's song and twists them in darkly hilarious ways. I am very much looking forward to more of Lenore's stories.
