After the horror that was "One Touch of Scandal," I was afraid to even open this book, but I'm so glad I did. This book reaffirmed why Carlyle has been a long-time auto-buy for me when I see one her books. This book is now one of my all-time favorite historicals, and Phaedra may be one of my very favorite heroines. The delicate, evolving relationship between Phaedra and Tristan is a true thing of beauty that relies on very real conflicts rather than tropes and was just a joy to watch unfold. Keeper shelf for sure! Zoe Armstrong from "Wicked All Day Long" plays a key role in this story, and in retrospect, I wish that I had read this one first.
