it was amazing

One of the things I like best about being a children's librarian is coming across books like these - books about things I did not know about before - like lightships which are boats that acted as lighthouses and the lives of the people on board who crewed them. Informative and appealing with art that reminded me a bit of Spier, a bit of Blegvad (and I am a rabid fan of both illustrators), I appreciated the very informative author's note, the lovely endpages spread of the boat with all the labeled bits (things on boats have such cool names like "windlass" and "keel").
I like the cat, too.
