The book I read was Across Five Aprils. Across Five Aprils is a historical fiction novel. This book is during the Civil War and a family is going through a crucial period of history. This family, the Creighton's are going through struggles because of the two sons are in the war and this is tearing them apart. Jethro especially is affected because form being naive, he has matured because of the years during the Civil War. The book was okay for me because I haven't read much historical fiction novels before. Once the novel got more into the war and explained it more it got more interesting for me. I didn't really like the genre at first because I was never really interested in historical fiction> When the novel got more into telling about the war, I really started to enjoy a little more. Telling about the Civil War and the family being affected by it made me like the genre. One surprise that held my interest was when Tom died. This held my interest because I didn't really expect him to die, so unexpectedly. I would probably recommend this book to someone who is interested in the Civil War and how people can be affected so heavily in the horrible years of the Civil War.

Alice Vera Across Five Aprils is one of my all time favorite books! I also was hesitant about reading it because I'm not really into historical fiction (or wasn't at the time), but this book changed my mind!

Ashley I agree with you, reading the book changed my mind about historical fiction since it was second time reading this genre but this book was different and better!
