This read had a similar feel to I'm Down and Hypocrite in a Pouffy Dress, leading me to wonder if all my contemporaries feel caught between several worlds, at home in none, and alienated from their interesting, but self-involved, parents.

How do we keep our own girls from learning all these things the hard way? How do we stay available to them in a way that actually helps them?

How in the world did Alice Walker feel reading this? What do A. Walker's readers think about her writing and success, once they've read this?
