really liked it

Probably actually a 3.5. Good story and set in an interesting time in history as it's not a "slave story" set during the Civil War. It predates the war by nearly 100 yrs. I had this feeling of dread the whole time reading the book. Some of my fears came true, others didn't. There were a lot good characters and a couple of very bad men. I wager to say so bad they rival any literary villans to date. Each character good or bad was described and developed well.
