This book was written with vivid detail about Korean pottery making. The storyline followed a "master and apprentice type of concept", and although the ending was tragic with one of the character's dying, I still would say that it helped me develop a new appreciation for stories where the key relationship is between a teacher and student because it focuses entirely on the student learning or perfecting a craft. I also was exposed to much information and detail about Korean pottery making and its industrial strength in small villages such as the one in the story.
