Ezra Lanyard would agree somewhat. 1) Income improves happiness but only as long as yours is above others to which you compare yourself. 2) Novelty is good, but it wears off quickly.

Cursing works. Venting is telling a story which just spreads the memory of you telling that story all over your brain and more likely to encounter it later. So probably detrimental.
