Four to Score
Author: Janet Evanovich
Characters: 5 out of 5
Plot: 5 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5
Description: (Author Website) Working for her bail bondsman cousin, Vinnie, Stephanie is hot on the trail of revenge-seeking waitress Maxine Nowicki, whose crimes include bail jumping, theft, and extortion. Someone is terrifying Maxine's friends, and those who have seen her are turning up dead. Also on the hunt for Maxine is Joyce Barnhardt, Stephanie's archenemy and rival bounty hunter.
Stephanie's attitude never wavers - even when aided by Grandma Mazur, ex-hooker and wannabe bounty hunter Lula, and transvestite rock musician Sally Sweet - and even when Stephanie makes an enemy whose deadly tactics escalate from threatening messages to firebombs. All of this pales in comparison, though, with an even greater danger Stephanie faces, when, homeless and broke, she and her hamster Rex move in with vice cop Joe Morelli.
RATED PG35 for licentious wit and libidinous cohabitation.
From My Point of View: I'm usually hesitant to pick up a series with so many titles because I fear, at some point, the storyline will go bad. It seems to me, again at some point, the author will the lose their creative edge and the novels will be published just for money's sake. That is not the case with Janet Evanovich (at least, not yet! I'll keep reading to find out!) Four to Score is my favorite novel thus far in the series. I adored every second of this book. It continues to baffle me how Stephanie is able to just walk into her FTA's time and time again. The humor is what I have now come to expect from Evanovich - and getting better. There was a much larger presense of Joe Morelli in the book and boy was I a happy camper. Stephanie/Joe shippers will love this novel.
Again with this book, Evanovich has created an interesting mystery that is fast paced and entirely believable. I love the way a missing person is discovered at the end of the book -- I nearly died laughing!
Once again, I say pick this series up! Once you do, you won't be able to put it down!
