This books introduces us to a younger generation of supernaturals. Still existing in the same world Armstrong created in her Women of the Otherworld series, it focuses on a group of individuals brought together under the guise of a group home, Lyle House, for troubled/mentally ill teens. Only a couple of the residents know what they themselves are. The rest really have no idea what is happening to them.

The main character is Chloe, a fifteen year old. She starts her day waking from a disturbing dream and things just seem to get worse as the day progresses. In the end she ends up seeing ghosts and coming into her powers not realizing she ever had any. After a very public altercation with a ghost at her school she becomes part of the Lyle House teens.

Cut off from family and friends she must figure out what she is and who to trust. She has been diagnosed as having Schizophrenia and told she will be "observed" for two weeks to see how she responds to treatment. As the story unfolds a lot more than what you might think is going on. A very fun and addictive read.
