This is a difficult book to evaluate, because it's not my usual genre and I don't really know the conventions. Once I decided it was set in an erotica alternate reality where all porn stars are gorgeous and SIDs don’t exist, I found it entertaining. (A brief mention of the existence of condoms annoyed me -- I think if you’re going to completely ignore the whole concept of safe sex in the sex scenes, it's better to follow through.) The concept of the network that does naked news broadcasts, on-camera sex during celebrity interviews and a "Big Brother" house where everyone gets assignments to do each other struck me as pretty funny, and not that implausible a stretch from current reality t.v. Hell, I don't watch t.v., perhaps this network already exists.

But the genre issue got me in the end--or rather, around the middle--because characters who were supposedly in love with each other kept having sex with other people for what seemed like very odd reasons. I'm just too much of a romantic for that, I guess.

On the whole, I thought this was pretty well-written porn, and I'm not using the word "porn" in a pejorative way. If you like reading about a large cast of people having lots and lots of sex (oral, anal, nothing particularly out-there,) with a bit of story and character development to hold it together, it's not bad.

Keri Great review!

willaful Thanks, Keri! It was a bit of a challenge, all around.

Bark's Book Nonsense I need a smidgen of romance even in full out erotica or it just doesn't work so I totally see why it didn't work for you.

willaful I think it was actually the smidgen that threw me off. First they fall in love during sex, then they keep having sex with other people. Either might work, but both together are not convincing.

Bark's Book Nonsense Yeah, that wouldn't work for me either.
