The second book of this series picks up right after the first one, Blood Song, left off. Celia is trying to come to grips with the fact that not only is she an abomination due to the vampire bite that didn't quite turn her, but that she's also part Siren. Oh, and that because of any of these that people want to kill her, and not just bad guys, but the police too - the book opens with the police turning a blind eye to her being kidnapped right outside the courtroom and being set up to be a murderer (again!). Now all Celia has to do is prove that she is not a threat to society (something most of the police do not believe) meet the queen of the Siren's and prove to them that she doesn't want the throne, help the King of Rusland retain, or retake his throne, and stay out of the claws of a demon bent on revenge. Oh, and come to grips with her new life on a liquid diet. A good read with a few glaring inconsistencies that I hope will be cleared up in the final book of the trilogy.
