This book was available at ALA as an Advance Reading Copy. It was a fine, but not fantastic, young adult read. Julia and her parents are perfect in practically every way. Sophie, Julia's elder sister, comes home to celebrate Julia's graduation from high school, argues with her parents, and demands that Julia be told the family secrets. Julia and Sophie are upset and confused as they help each other understand not just their family's tragedy but also themselves. My biggest complaint is that some of the details just don't ring true. For example, Julia is supposed to be the valedictorian of her class and she doesn't know who e.e. cummings is. Really? I found that particular detail unrealistic.
