Here we are. The second book of Dennis Lehane's Kenzie/Gennaro series.

When people start receiving photographs of their loved ones in the mail and then those loved ones get brutally murdered, private detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro are put on the case. The pair plunge into dark histories, darker secrets, and uncomfortable meetings with the Irish Mob.

While I didn't enjoy this one QUITE as much as the first book in the series ("A Drink Before the War"), it was still a great read. Lehane's neo-noir style pervades throughout and gives us a really gritty feel. Some of the villains in this one are as disturbing and twisted as you'll ever read and add to the on-the-edge feel of the whole book.

I'd recommend this one to any fans of Lehane's other work, mystery buffs, and those yearning for a good solid read.
