First line: "It was Friday evening, half an hour before the light struck, and she was attempting to open a package with a carving knife."

This one gets four stars because some of the sections were a three and some a five. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and would recommend this or A Brief History of the Dead to anyone who enjoys good character building or stories that take our world and tweak them just a bit to delve into the deeper aspects of humanity. In Illumination the tweak was that for no apparent reason, a glowing light began to emanate from the physical wounds of all people. What follows is a look at six very interesting and relatable characters and the deeper nature of pain, both physical and mental.
