Quite accessible and readable book given the rather difficult matter which is covered. The author uses Fermat's Last Theorem as a starting point to delve into a history of "pure" mathematics as well as a description of the journey of the person who solved the theorem.

On the way to the solution we're introduced to lots of famous mathematicians and their contributions to science. What I really like is that it offers some more insight into how pure mathematics works.
